HeadstARTS is an organisation in DCU that runs creative classes for adults of all ages with intellectual disabilities. The classes consist of dance, drama and art, and are run from 6 - 8 o’clock every Tuesday evening. Our mission in HeadstARTS is to empower those with intellectual disabilities through the arts, and to allow them to be creative in a setting that is supportive and safe for all of our members. HeadstARTS offers members the opportunity to engage in fun and enjoyable activities, to make friends and to feel included regardless of their disability. We run a showcase at the end of every semester, where carers, family members and friends can come to DCU to see all the artwork, dance routines and drama sketches that the members have been working on all term. Our volunteers are made up of students from DCU, who aid in the running of the classes, and ensure every member can engage in the classes to the best of their ability!
