Aikido is a non-violent Japanese Martial art. It was founded in the 1920s by Morihei Ueshiba, also known as O-sensei. The techniques promote health, flexibility and develop the natural strength of the body. Aikido techniques blend with the attack, leading the energy in a circular motion into a throw or immobilization. It is suitable for men and women of all ages. DCU Aikido club is partnered with Dublin Aikikai Aikido. The club is non-competitive and organizes various seminars throughout the year where a well-known Sensei comes to Ireland to instruct classes.
