End of Semester arrives

The twelve weeks of the first Semester has literally flown by. Hopefully, everyone has enjoyed themselves and feel happy and content. There have been some wonderful moments both in the SU and in Clubs and Socs activities. However, if you are feeling stressed or worried about any aspect of your life in DCU. please feel free to contact the University support services or the SU. DCU athletes shine in Europe

Many of the Irish Athletes who performed so well in the European Cross Country Championship in Portugal have strong DCU connections. John Coghlan is in 2nd year MINT and Brendan O' Neill graduated from BS last year and is hoping to start masters in September. We also had Laura Behan,1st year Actuarial Maths, Emmet Jennings 1st year PEB, Paul Robinson 1st Year EPL and Darren Mc Brearty 2nd Year Actuary not to mention graduates Fionnuala Britton, Mark Christie, Brian Farrell and Hazel Murphy competing!!!!!

Christmas Ball - December 15th

Christmas Ball on this Wednesday in the Helix. Great line up and tickets are selling fast. €10 for students and €15 for guests.

Life back to normal...sort of..

Life in DCU returned to normal on Monday. Lectures resumed and all support services, includng the SU reopended. A big thank you to all the staff, particularly the Estates staff who worked all weekend to get the Campus ready for business yesterday.

Inspiring leaders to speak in Venue today..

Bobby Kerr and Gary McDarby will speak on different matters, but will both aim to interact & inspire the audience. Gary McDarby will speak on Technology, Innovation and Hope - The inspiring story of the late Stuart Mangan (1983-2009) intertwined with other stories. In this short talk some stories about the creative use of technology to improve the life of people in the developing world are interleaved with the inspiring story of Stuart Mangan. Stuart suffered................one of the most severe spinal chord injuries in sport which left him paralyzed from the neck down and required him to use a ventilator to breathe. Despite the immensely challenging circumstances he found himself in, he took on life with a positive and courageous spirit that inspired everyone around him. He sadly passed away in August 2009. Bobby Kerr will speak on the outlook for us as students and having the right attitude to beat the recession and how everything is not doom and gloom! !

University to stay closed until Monday

In light of the current bad weather the University authorities have decided that the University will remain closed until Monday. Obviously all lectures are cancelled as are all support services. Further information is available on the University website.

Study Guide Launched

A new Study Skills Manual to assist students in further and higher education has been launched by Minister for Lifelong Learning Seán Haughey. Written by educational psychologist Suzanne McCarthy and assistant psychologist Muireann Treacy and edited by Denise Richardson from National Learning Network, this unique educational resource was.................

Laura Whitemore inteview

Check out the great interview with Laura Whitemore on the John Murray show on the RTE player. She talks about her musical tastes and highlights the great times she had in DCU. Laura is a Journalism graduate and also an Uaneen recipient. She was also very involved in societies while in DCU, particularly Style Soc. Well done Laura !
